Privacy & Your Story

Remember Machine stores the family projects and records you choose to save. Your private Vault is available only through your signed-in account. Saving a story does not publish it or submit it for production.

Your account

We use your email to create your account and deliver sign-in links. Session cookies keep you signed in; sign-in records may include technical information such as the time, browser, and network address. Links expire after 30 minutes and can be used once. Email delivery is handled by Resend.

Drafts and saved records

The story planner keeps an unfinished draft in this browser for up to 24 hours so you can return after signing in. Saving it creates a project in your account and removes that browser draft. Downloaded copies remain on your device. If you share a device, clear your browser’s site data to remove an unfinished draft.

Saved projects can contain names, family relationships, approximate dates, research notes, scripts, photographs, and documents. Upload only material you are entitled to share with this service. Avoid including unnecessary sensitive information about living people.

Storage and access

Vercel hosts this website, Convex stores account and project records and uploaded files, and Resend delivers account emails. These services process information needed to provide the features you use. The website checks account and project access before returning private records or file downloads. It does not expose private file links in public story pages.

Keeping and removing records

Saved records remain available for return visits. Archiving hides a record from active work and preserves its history; it does not permanently delete the underlying record or file. To request access, correction, or permanent removal of your account records, contact Remember Machine from your account email. We will confirm the request and explain any retention limits that apply before completing it.

Production and sharing

The current workspace does not automatically send saved sources for production, invite relatives, or publish family stories. Any future production or sharing action must be explained before you choose it.

Site requests and other websites

Hosting services process technical request data to deliver and protect the site. This website does not include advertising pixels or a customer analytics integration. Links on Research Pathways lead to independent services whose own privacy practices apply.
